H1N1 Vaccination Update
H1N1 influenza is expected to have a third wave come through
and with the availability of additional vaccines Cook County
is expanding their level of immunization. Persons young and old
are encouraged to get vaccinated for both seasonal influenza
and the novel H1N1 influenza.
Physician offices, pharmacies, hospitals and local clinics now
offer the H1N1 vaccine. Remember, Live Attenuated (nasal spray
vaccine) is approved for people from 2 through 49 years of age
who are not pregnant and do not have certain health conditions:
Example, pregnant women, people with long term health problems
and children from 6 month to 2 years of age should NOT receive
the LAIV (they should get the Flu shot).
