The function of the Traffic and Safety Commission is to review
transit, parking and potentially hazardous traffic matters of
the Village that have been referred to them. The Commission serves
in an advisory capacity to the Village Board of Trustees and
is comprised of nine members, who are residents of the Village,
and are appointed by the President of the Village with consent
from the Board of Trustees. The Commission meets every other
month.

Traffic and Safety Commission Information

The Traffic and Safety Commission meets the third
Wednesday of alternate months (January, March, May, July, September
and
November) at 7:30 PM in the community room of the Village
Hall.

A request to the Traffic and Safety Commission must be put in
writing 21 days in advance of the next meeting and sent to
Deputy Chief Sullivan at the River Forest Police Department.

The request will then be analyzed by Village staff and the results
of the analysis and a recommendation will be forwarded to
the Traffic and Safety Commission.

Residents and businesses in the area of the request will be notified
of the request and given the opportunity to attend the Traffic
and Safety Commission meeting, at least 5 days prior to the
meeting.

The Traffic and Safety Commission will consider the request and
decide whether to make a motion to recommend the request.

If a motion is made to recommend the request, it will be
forwarded to the Village of River Forest Board of Trustees
meeting to
formally accept the request and amend the village ordinance.

The current chairman of the Traffic and Safety Commission is
John Hagensick.
