Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs)

Public Information Meeting

On Monday, February 26, 2007 at 6:30 PM, in the Community Room, at the Village Hall, 400 Park Avenue, River Forest, Illinois, the Village held a Public Information Meeting to present three proposed plans (Pollution Prevention Plan, Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Operations & Maintenance Plan, and Public Notification Plan) in accordance with the requirements of the National Pollution Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Permits for the Village of River Forest (NPDES Permit No. ILM580024).

Combined Sewer Overflows (CSOs)

As part of its National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) Permit requirements, the Village of River Forest has developed and implemented the following plans/program:

These plans/program describe the Village’s actions designed to help improve water quality in the Des Plaines River by reducing or eliminating potential pollution from the Village’s combined sewers.

The Metropolitan Water Reclamation District (MWRD) maintains a network of flow monitoring devices throughout its district to detect combined sewer overflows. Up to date information is available at the MWRDGCs web site.
