Transfer Tax Stamps
Transfer stamps must be purchased for all homes and condos
sold in River Forest. The tax is one dollar per thousand of
the selling price. When you or your realtor has sold your home,
you must pay for the stamps and arrange for an inspection.
The Village inspects homes on Tuesday and Friday mornings only.
After the inspection is made, the homeowner or realtor may
pick up the stamps and the certificate of occupancy. The final
water bill is paid at this time. The stamps must be taken to
the closing and filed with Cook County.
